Dr. Francesco Iacono
Graduated in Dentistry from the University of Catania in 2007, followed by a Master’s Programme in Clinical Endodontics at the University of Bologna in 2008. The academic and research career includes international experience as a Visiting Scholar at the Department of Oral Biology, Medical College of Georgia (USA), in 2008 and 2011. Over the years, there has been extensive collaboration with Italian universities, including the University of Bologna and the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, serving as Adjunct Professor and being actively involved in teaching, research activities, and clinical tutoring.
Active Member of the Italian Endodontic Society (SIE) and Certified Member of the European Society of Endodontology (ESE). In 2015 and 2017, awarded the prestigious “Francesco Riitano” Award by the Italian Endodontic Society (SIE) for the best scientific contribution on instrumentation, innovation, and respect for root canal anatomy.
Author of the book “L’otturazione canalare con cementi bioceramici (Root canal obturation with bioceramic sealers)”, published by Edra in 2025, as well as numerous scientific publications, with a particular focus on instrumentation and root canal obturation. Regular lecturer at national and international courses and congresses in the field of Endodontics.
Dr. Chiara Pirani
Graduated in Dentistry in 2003 and completed a Master’s Programme in Endodontology at the University of Bologna in 2004. PhD in Dentistry for Special Care completed in 2008.
She collaborates with different Universities since several years, for research activities, publishing in peer-reviewed endodontic journals with particular interest in endodontic NiTi instruments and clinical research.
In 2015, Dr. Pirani has been awarded the Garberoglio prize by the Italian Society of Endodontics (SIE) for the best research scientific work (basic research and laboratory and clinical research).
She published more than 50 articles in scientific peer-reviewed journals on different endodontic and restorative topics. Reviewer for the International Endodontic Journal, Australian Endodontic Journal, European Endodontic Journal, Materials, Acta Odontologica Scandinavica and the Italian Journal of Endodontics.
She serves on the Board of the Cultural Committee of the Italian Society of Endodontics (SIE) since 2018.
She is coordinator of north-east area for the Italian Society of Endodontics since 2023.
Dr. Pirani has given several lectures, courses, and hands-on courses worldwide.
She serves as Opinion Leader for some international companies in the Endodontic field.
In 2021 she received the certification to be Professor of II level in Italy.
She collected several international collaborations with renewed Universities and Academics.
In 2022-2024, Dr. Pirani is Member of the Steering Committee for the S3 guidelines in Endodontology by the European Society of Endodontology.
Ordinary member of the Italian Academy of Endodontics since 2016.
Active member of the Italian Society of Endodontics since 2017.
Certified member of the European Society of Endodontology since 2021.
She works in private practice limited to endodontics and restorative dentistry in Bologna, Italy.
