Young ITI Lounge: Soft tissue management around dental implants

Dr. Teresa Chanting Sun is a specialist in periodontology and implantology at Mackay Memorial Hospital in Taipei, Taiwan. She is also a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Periodontology at National Defense School of Dentistry, Taipei, Taiwan. Dr. Sun is a Diplomate of both the American and Taiwanese Board of Periodontology. She received her Advanced Education Certificate and Master of Science degree in Periodontology from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, Boston, USA. She was also the recipient of an ITI Scholarship from 2019 to 2020 at Harvard School of Dental Medicine, Boston, USA. Dr. Sun has authored many peer-reviewed scientific articles and abstracts related to the topic of periodontal and dental implant related surgical procedures and digital dentistry. Dr. Sun also lectures as invited speaker in many international and national conferences. She is a fellow and founding member of the ITI young international group of the International Team for Implantology (ITI). She has been recognized as a standout clinician and was awarded as the winner of Europerio9 Periocontest in 2018, the winner of the Osteology Case Award in 2020 and the 2021 ITI Young Speaker Award.

Dr. Jaime Chang is an American board certified periodontist. She obtained her bachelors,of dental surgery degree from King’s College London and later went on to complete her Periodontology training in Columbia University, New York. She currently serves on the executive committee of the Singapore Periodontal Society and is also an active member of the International Team of Implantology, Academy of Osseointegration and the Singapore Dental Council. She is a part time clinical tutor at the National University of Singapore. Dr. Chang also maintains her private practice at TP dental in Singapore.

Dr. Edwin Goh earned his Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2010. During his career as a general dental practitioner, he found special professional interests in Periodontology and returned to NUS to pursue his Master in Dental Surgery (Periodontology). He was then elected as a Member of The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2016. In 2019, he was accredited as a periodontist by the Singapore Dental Council. In the same year, Dr. Goh was awarded the prestigious scholarship offered by the International Team for Implantology and spent a year at the Tokyo Medical and Dental University.
After spending more than a decade in the public sector, Dr Goh has been in private practice since 2021. He is also currently an adjunct clinical faculty in the periodontology residency training programme at NUS; and an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

Dr. Jonathan Phua received his Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the National University of Singapore (NUS). He subsequently completed his residency in periodontology from NUS and started his career as a periodontist at the National Dental Centre Singapore. Dr Phua currently practices periodontics within a multi-disciplinary private specialist group right in the heart of Singapore and currently serves as the president of the Society of Periodontology Singapore. He specialises in the treatment of advanced gum diseases, periodontal plastic surgery and implant surgery. He works closely with other dental specialists within the clinic. Dr Phua believes in a conservative approach and attempts to save teeth whenever possible. He has a strong interest in education and is currently a part time clinical faculty in NUS’ periodontology residency training programme.
