Bart Van Meerbeek obtained his DDS in 1988 and his PhD in 1993 at KU Leuven (University of Leuven) in Belgium.
He continued his research activity abroad for one year at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Texas, and later also at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. In 1995, he became Assistant Professor (‘Docent’) at KU Leuven and since then teaches Dental Biomaterial Sciences. In 1998 and 2002, he was promoted respectively to Associate Professor (‘Hoofddocent’) and Professor (‘Hoogleraar’), and in 2005 to Full Professor (‘Gewoon Hoogleraar’). His primary research interest involves studies related to the broad field of Adhesive Dentistry, including fundamental as well as clinical research regarding dental adhesive technology in particular. Newer research lines deal with Dental Ceramics, Cariogenicity & Biocompatibility of Dental Materials, Bioactive Materials and Pulppreservation Material Technology. His research work has been published in more than 400 peer-reviewed journals and has been honoured with awards such as the 1996 triennial Robert Stock Award for best PhD dissertation in Biomedical Sciences, Albert Joachim Award in 1997, Award in Biomedical Sciences of the Research Council of KU Leuven in 1998, IADR Young Research Award in 2000, SmithKline Beecham Award in 2001, Academy of Operative Dentistry Buonocore Memorial Lecturer in 2003, CED-IADR (Continental European Division of IADR) Robert Frank Lecturer in 2008, 2014 IADR/AADR William J. Gies Award for the best 2014 JDR paper in the Biomaterials & Bioengineering Research category, and the 2015 IADR Wilmer Souder Award (IADR Distinguished Scientist award for Dental Materials). In 2003, he became holder of the Toshio Nakao Chair for Adhesive Dentistry. He was President of the PanEuropean Federation of IADR in 2006-2007 and is currently serving as Secretary of the CED-IADR. Since 2004, he is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Adhesive Dentistry.

Prof. Marco Ferrari M.D., D.M.D., Ph.D.
Marco Ferrari, graduated at School of Surgery and Medicine, of University of Pisa in 1983 and in General Dentistry degree in 1987 at University of Siena.
In 1997-8 he attended the PostGraduate Program in Prosthodontics at Tufts University di Boston.
In 1995 he took his PhD degree at University of Amsterdam, defending a thesis on “Bonding to dental structures”.
At the School of Dental Medicine at Tufts University of Boston he was appointed progressively from Clinical Instructor to Assistent Clinical Professor, Associate Clinical Professor and finally Research Full-Professor during the academic year 1999-2000.
Between 1997 and 1999-2000 he was teaching Dental Materials at the School of Dental Medicine of Siena University as Supplent Professor.
From October 2000, he was appointed Associate Professor at School of Dental Medicine, of Siena Facoltà University
In June 2001 Prof. Ferrari proposed and implemented the Ph D program in ‘Dental Materials and their clinical applications’ at University of Siena.
In June 2002, he was winner of concorse of full-professor position and starting the academic year 200-3 he was appointed full professor at Siena University, into the school of Dental Medicine.
In July 2002 Prof. Ferrari was elected Dean of School of Dental Medicine, and he was renewed twice till 2014.
Between October 2003 and January 2006 he was appointed ‘Delegato del Rettore per le Relazioni Internazionali’ (Vice Rector of International Relations) of University of Siena.
He also was the secretary of Italian Dental School Deans Association from 2006 and in 2009 was elected President of the Italian Dental School Deans Association (2009-now).
In May 2005, he was als appointed Director of School of Ph D in ‘Biotecnologies’.
From November 2012 to December 2013 he was the Director of the Dental and Medical Biotechnology Department of Siena University and is still actually coordinator of the Tuscan School of Dental Medicine of Florence and Siena University.
He is actually Visiting Professor at Rochester University, Eastman Center, USA, and Xi’an University, 4th Biomedical University, China.
Actually he is Past-President elect of Academy of Dental Materials and Past President of European Federation of Conservative Dentistry and President of Continental European Division (CED) of International Association of Dental Research (IADR).
He was in the editorial board of several international dental journals with impact factor (such as Journal of Dental Research, Journal of Dentistry, J Endodontics, Journal of Adhesive Dentistry, American Journal of Dentistry, Dental Materials, Acta Odontologica Croatia) and he acts as referee of other 10 peer-reviewed impact factor dental journals. He is Scientific Editor of International Dentistry South Africa and Associate Editors of Prosthodontic Research & Practice.
He is author of more than 350 international publications (4/5 on dental journals with impact factor), of other 260 national publications and of 160 abstracts presented in international and national congress.
Prof. Eric C. Reynolds Ph.D., AO, FICD, FTSE, FRACDS
Laureate Professor Eric Reynolds AO is Chief Executive Officer and Research Director of the Oral Health CRC at the Melbourne Dental School, the University of Melbourne. For 16 years until 2015 Eric was Head of the Melbourne Dental School. He has lectured and published extensively and has chaired and participated in a wide range of professional committees and panels. Eric was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia for his service to community dental health in 2005. He received the Clunies Ross National Science and Technology award in 2002 and the Victoria Prize for Science in 2005. In 2011 he received the Distinguished Scientist Award from the International Association for Dental Research, and in 2015 the Leach Medal for research excellence and the Global Health Impact Award from the University of Melbourne. In 2016 he received the Award of Merit from the Australian Dental Association and in 2017 the Prime Minister’s Prize for Science Innovation. In 2019 he was elected Vice-President of the International Association for Dental Research and will become President in July this year. In 2020 he received the European Organisation for Caries Research Prize for outstanding scientific contribution and the American Academy of Periodontology Clinical Research Award.
