EDHF webinar for Pan European Dental Hygienists

Yvonne Nyblom is a dental hygienist and president of the Swedish Dental Hygienists Association. She is representative for Sweden in the European Dental Hygienists Federation and since 2012 she is also president of the EDHF.During her term as president, EDHF has developed a European Common Professional Profile for the dental hygienists and a Common Education Curriculum.

Deepak qualified from the University of Dundee (2007) with a BSc in Oral Health and MSc in Advanced Periodontal Practice from the University of Essex (2018). Later on, he completed Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from the University of Greenwich. He has a special interest in managing advanced periodontal problems in primary care settings through non-surgical periodontal treatments.

Treating and managing periodontal patients in General Dental Practice has its own unique challenges. Deepak understands this from his experience working from dental hospital to corporate and independent (both National Health Service and private) practices. He incorporates this into his teaching methods and explains how to manage patients better and yield successful outcome using a non-surgical approach. Deepak’s lectures are very comprehensive, hands-on, evidence-based, and he ensures he creates an open-style, fun and interactive learning environment for his delegates.

He frequently writes for dental journals and lectures at dental events on these topics internationally. Annually he organises a volunteering trip to Nepal (Oral Care for Developing Countries) to promote oral and general health and provide pain relief and general dental treatments.

Currently, Deepak practices as a dental hygienist therapist two days per week in General Dental Practice and runs courses on various aspects of periodontology within the UK (www.periowithdeepak.com).

Dr Catherine Waldron is currently working in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Population Health Sciences Division. She has qualifications in Dental Nursing, Dental Hygiene and teaching. Catherine is a past Director of the Dental Hygiene Programme in Trinity College Dublin. She has completed a Masters by Research on the topic of Communication Skills in the dental setting, a Masters in Health Promotion on the topic of Smoking Cessation in the dental setting and a PhD in Special Care Dentistry. She is the lead author of a Cochrane Review of oral hygiene interventions for people with intellectual disabilities.
She has presented nationally and internationally on the topics of dentistry, health promotion and behavioural change. She has extensive clinical experience and an enthusiasm for empowering patients to improve and maintain their oral health.
She is an active member of her professional associations; she is a past president of the Irish Dental Nurses Association and the Irish Dental Hygienists Association, a past Vice-President of the International Federation of Dental Hygienists and currently the President of the Irish Society of Disability and Oral Health.

Stefano Checchi is born in Bologna Italy. He is a dental hygienist since 2000. He worked in several private clinics and as communication and training & education consultant in favor of many international companies. His passion is teaching and lecturing and he worked as a tutor at the University in Bolgona. Nowadays he is a teacher at the University of the Study in Torino, Dental Hygiene course. Beside that he is lecturing, both at national and international level, covering topics of Dental Hygiene interest. Since ten years he represents Italy as a Delegate in the European Dental Hygienists Federation (EDHF) and covered the role of EDHF secretary for two terms. He is board member of the Italian Dental Hygienists Association (AIDI).Together with his wife, also a dental hygienist, he owns and runs a Dental Hygiene Office in Torino.
