Dr Östman received his dental degree from the University of Umeå, Sweden in 1991. He holds a PhD from Dep. of Biomaterials, Institute for Surgical Sciences, Sahlgrenska Academy, Göteborg University, Göteborg, Sweden. Between 2012-2018 he was a visiting Professor at Dep. Periodontology and Oral Implantology. Dental School University Hospital, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences University of Ghent, Belgium and between 2016 – 2020 visiting Professor Dental School University Hospital, James Cook University, Townsville, Australia. At present he runs Branemark Osseointegration Center, Falun, Sweden He has authored several scientific articles both in oral pathology and implantology. He has lectured extensively in implant dentistry during the last 20 years. Currently he is also consultant for Southern Implants, South Africa. He has been consulting for the implant industry during the last 20 years.
