Prof. Dr. Falk Schwendicke MDPH
Prof. Falk Schwendicke is Head of the Department of Oral Diagnostics, Digital Health and Health Services Research at Europe’s largest university hospital, the Charité in Berlin, Germany. He also is the founding director of the Berlin Institute of AI and Health Policy and a Visiting Fellow at the University of Otago, New Zealand.
Prof. Schwendicke currently serves as Associate Editor of the Journal of Dental Research, as President of the German Association for AI in Dentistry, as Topic Driver Dental at the ITU/WHO group AI in Health and as Vice President of the German Society for Oral Epidemiology and Health Services Research. Dr. Schwendicke holds a PhD from Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and a Master of Dental Public Health (MDPH) from the University of Manchester. He received numerous awards, among them the IADR Leader Award, IADR Basil Bibby and IADR Lion Award as well as the David Sackett Award for Evidence-Based Medicine.
Prof. Dr. Sebnem Türkün
Dr Türkün was graduated from Ege University School of Dentistry in 1991. In 1998 she obtained her PhD degree in Restorative Dentistry, became Associate Professor in 2004 and Professor in 2009. She is currently working in Ege University School of Dentistry in the Department of Restorative Dentistry as a full time Professor and head of the department. Her principal areas of interest are adhesive dentistry, aesthetic restorative materials and their clinical performance, antibacterial restorative materials, glass ionomer restoratives and minimal invasive dentistry. She published many international and national papers on her field of interest, participates as keynote speaker in many international and national congress and performed many workshops and hands-on courses. She is a member of the Association for Dental Research (IADR), EDAD and Turkish Restorative Dentistry Association where she is vice-president. Dr Türkün is the president of the European Federation of Conservative Dentistry (EFCD) since 2021. She is the board member representing Turkey at the Continental European Division (CED) of the Association for Dental Research (IADR) since 2021. Since 2007, she is the translating editor of the journal Quintessence Turkey and the author of many chapters in national and international published books. She is board member for many international and national periodic dental journals. Prof Dr Türkün is married and has a son.
Prof. Dr. Matteo Basso DDS, PhD, MSc.
Graduation with honor in Dentistry and Oral Prosthetic Rehabilitation at the “Università degli Studi” in Milan, Italy, in year 2000. In 2006 he gets PhD in “Innovative Techniques in Implant Dentistry and Oral Rehabilitation”. In year 2010: he obtains Specialty in Oral Surgery (MSc). In the period 2006-07 dr. Matteo Basso has been head of Conservative Dentistry Department at the University Dental Clinic of the Galeazzi Orthopaedic Institute in Milan. From January 2008 he became head of the innovative “Centre of Minimal Invasive, Aesthetic and Digital Oral Rehabilitation” (CROMED) in the same University, promoting new concepts and new digital approaches for prosthetics, dental caries management and tooth structures preservation. Actually Adjunct Professor of Dental Ergonomics and Business Management and Adjunct Professor of Periodontics for the modulus of Minimally Invasive Dentistry for the Graduation Course in Dentistry of the University of Milan. Active Member of ORCA (European Organisation for Caries Research), Active Member of TRAP-Group Italy (Tooth Respect and Prevention). Member and Founder of the international Minimum Intervention Advisory Board (MI-AB), Active Member of the Biodentistry.eu International group and Member of the IADR since 2007.
Prof. Dr. Sevil Gürgan
Sevil Gurgan was graduated from the Hacettepe University School of Dentistry, Ankara, Turkey
in 1980, got her Ph.D. degree in the Department of Restorative Dentistry of the same school in
1985, became Associate Professor in 1988 and Professor in 1995. She had been as a visiting
Professor at the New York University School of Dentistry in New York in 1995 and at the Tufts
University School of Dentistry in Boston in 2005.
She is an active member of International Association for Dental Research and member of
Nominating Committee, board Member of International Association for Dental Research
Continental European Division (2009-2012), board member of the European Academy of
Operative Dentistry, member of Academy of Operative Dentistry. She acted as the vice
President of Hacettepe University between 2008-2012 and head of the Department of
Restorative Dentistry of the Dental Faculty between 2005-2011.
Currently she is professor at the same department. She has several articles published on dental
materials and dental bleaching and has been giving lectures and courses in national and
international congresses and meetings for more than 25 years.
