Prof. Philippe Bouchard DDS, PhD
Prof. Philippe Bouchard is full Professor and Chairman of the Department of Periodontology, U.F.R. d’Odontologie, Denis Diderot – Paris 7 University in France, where he received his Dental Degree in 1976. He is responsible for a Master in Odontology and the post-graduate European program in Periodontology and Dental Implantology. Currently, he is head of the Oral Pathology – Oral Surgery and Periodontal Surgery Clinical Unit at the Rothschild Hospital, AP-HP, in Paris, France. He has been clinical Professor at Loma Linda University, and visiting Professor at USC (California).
Philippe Bouchard has great interest in research questions relating to the systemic effects of periodontitis, aesthetics, and decision making in periodontology and dental implant therapies. Pr. Bouchard has published in peer-reviewed journals and wrote a book on implant dentistry as well as several chapters for textbooks in periodontology. He is member of the editorial board of the Journal of Clinical Periodontology (Europe), and member of the peer review panel of the Journal of Periodontology (U.S.A.).

Robert Genco DDS, PhD
Robert J. Genco, is Distinguished Professor of Oral Biology and Microbiology at the State University of New York at Buffalo. He also is Vice Provost and Director of the Office of Science, Technology Transfer, and Economic Outreach at UB.
He is a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences and has served on several of its committees commissioned by the U.S. Government to study major health care issues such as Medicare coverage of new dental clinical advances, and barriers to clinical research. Dr. Genco has received many awards including the American Dental Association (ADA) Gold Medal for Excellence in Research, the ADA Award for Clinical Research, the UB Samuel B. Capen Alumni Award, and the SUNY Research Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award. He also received an honorary doctorate from Georgetown University.
He received a DDS, cum laude, from the University at Buffalo, and a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Pennsylvania. He also is a Periodontist. Dr. Genco has published over 340 papers, edited 10 texts, and has been awarded 11 patents, and is a founding partner of Therex LLC, a local biotechnology company. Dr. Genco has conducted pioneering studies of the role of infections in increasing the risk for diabetes and cardiovascular disease and stroke. His earlier work established smoking, diabetes mellitus, obesity, low dietary calcium, osteoporosis, and stress as risk factors for periodontal infections. He also has studied tissue engineering as applied to periodontal and implant surgery. He has directed a Clinical Research Center for 30 years, and has served on 2 FDA panels.
Dr. Genco currently serves as Secretary of the Board of the Buffalo Museum of Science. He also serves on the Boards of the WNY Business Development Fund, and Excell Partners, 2 regional seed capital funds.
Dr. Steven Offenbacher DDS, PHD, MMSC
Dr. Offenbacher received his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Boston University, and his DDS and PhD in Biochemistry from Virginia Commonwealth University. He completed a post doctorate fellowship in pharmacology, at Forsyth Institute, as well as a certificate in periodontology and oral medicine from Harvard. He has received the Norton Ross award for clinical research, the Gies Award and the Basic Research in Periodontal Disease Award from the International Association for Dental Research.
He is past president of the American Association of Dental Research. He has conducted epidemiological and clinical research investigating the role of periodontal infections in systemic diseases. Currently, his research laboratory is actively exploring the cellular and molecular mechanisms of periodontal disease pathogensis from an “omics” perspective.
Prof. Soren Jepsen DDS, PhD
Prof. Jepsen is Director and Chairman of the Department of Periodontology, Operative and Preventive Dentistry at the University of Bonn, Germany. Previously he was Assistant Professor in the Department of Prosthodontics at the University of Hamburg and later Associate Professor in the Dept. of Conservative Dentistry and Periodontology at the University of Kiel.
He received his Dental and his Medical Degree from the University of Hamburg in 1981 and 1986 and a MS in Periodontology from Loma Linda University, California, USA, in 1992.
He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. He has served on the board of the German Society of Periodontology and is board member of the European Federation of Periodontology. Prof. Jepsen became elected member of Leopoldina (German National Academy of Sciences) in 2005. Since 2008 he is speaker of the Clinical Research Unit 208 „Aetiology and Sequelae of Periodontal Diseases“ by the German Research Foundation.
He has lectured and published extensively and is Associate Editor of the Journal of Clinical Periodontology and editorial board member of Clinical Oral Implants Research, the European Journal of Oral Implantology and the Chinese Journal of Dental Research
Evanthia Lalla DDS, MS
Evanthia Lalla received her dental degree from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece and a Masters in Periodontics from Columbia University in New York City. Upon completion of her specialty training, she joined the full time faculty of the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine.
She received University Tenure at Columbia and is currently a Professor of Dental Medicine at the Division of Periodontics. Her work involves research in the field of periodontal infections, diabetes mellitus and atherosclerosis, teaching and faculty practice. Her research has been supported by the National Institutes of Health, as well as industry and foundations.
She is the recipient of prestigious awards, including the Antony A. Rizzo Young Investigator Award from the International Association for Dental Research, the Burton C. Borgelt Faculty Advisor Award from the American Dental Association, and the World Periodontal Research Award from the Sunstar Foundation for Oral Health Promotion. She has published several articles in high impact medical and dental journals and has lectured extensively in the United States and internationally.
