About how I re-discovered die silicone and made it into one of my essential materials. In this webinar we will explore new and well-known applications for this versatile material that allows us to quickly prepare chairside models with infinite applications, from prosthetics to indirect and semi-direct restorations and all the way to bleaching procedures.
It all started when one of my patients was releasing her book and attending a book signing event abroad. She was traveling the next day and the color mismatch between her anterior porcelain crown and her own teeth had suddenly become a source of anxiety. A whitening was the solution of choice. Since I don’t have any plaster in my dental clinic, preparing bleaching trays within the same day seemed an impossible task. I decided to make models in and to carry out the thermoforming on them. To my surprise the results were above my expectations thanks to:
The extreme setting rapidity of the material in only 2 minutes
The precision of the details of the model
The possibility to remove a fine bubble, an imperfection, with the help of a scalpel without spreading plaster dust everywhere
And of course, the ability to perform the thermoforming without any deterioration of the silicone, and the ease of taking the model out of the mold due to the elasticity of the material.
Nowadays all my models for whitening are made with this system and die silicone has become an indispensable material in my dental practice. In this webinar I will show you how I use this material to manufacture bleaching trays and to solve other challenging clinical situations.
