Surgical procedures must be driven by the prosthetic plan and aim to recreate the gingival and osseous tissue conditions required to achieve stable and long-term favorable muco-prosthetic relationships.
The convergence of digital imaging, computer-assisted planning, and 3D printing technologies has led to the development of patient-specific titanium meshes. These customized devices are designed to precisely adapt to the defect morphology while ensuring surgical accuracy and mechanical stability.
When applied in strict accordance with the biological principles of Guided Bone Regeneration (GBR), the use of this sterile, patient-adapted medical device has given rise to the concept of Customized Bone Regeneration (CBR). This approach enables the management of complex bone defects combining both vertical and horizontal components.
A review of the literature and documented clinical cases will highlight the clinical relevance of this innovative strategy, outline its surgical considerations, present treatment outcomes, and discuss potential complications, with the objective of enhancing predictability and reproducibility in daily clinical practice.
