Don’t wait until it hurts. Adopting the right working postures
The dark and narrow space in the oral cavity can cause oral health professionals (OHPs) to adopt an unnatural posture during dental treatment, which can lead to serious physical impact and repetitive strain injuries. Ergonomics in dentistry should strike a balance between keeping the dentist healthy and providing efficient treatment.
Dentistry is seen as a relatively safe profession. However, oral health professionals have been identified as having an “occupation that adversely affects health”. Ergonomics and good postural practices are essential to achieve accurate treatments while preventing health issues, such as musculoskeletal problems, in the dental team.
