Catharine Waldron RDH, MSc, MA, PhD.
Dr Catherine Waldron is currently working in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Population Health Sciences Division. She has qualifications in Dental Nursing, Dental Hygiene and teaching. Catherine is a past Director of the Dental Hygiene Programme in Trinity College Dublin. She has completed a Masters by Research on the topic of Communication Skills in the dental setting, a Masters in Health Promotion on the topic of Smoking Cessation in the dental setting and a PhD in Special Care Dentistry. She is the lead author of a Cochrane Review of oral hygiene interventions for people with intellectual disabilities.
She has presented nationally and internationally on the topics of dentistry, health promotion and behavioural change. She has extensive clinical experience and an enthusiasm for empowering patients to improve and maintain their oral health.
She is an active member of her professional associations; she is a past president of the Irish Dental Nurses Association and the Irish Dental Hygienists Association, a past Vice-President of the International Federation of Dental Hygienists and currently the President of the Irish Society of Disability and Oral Health.
